Geared And Ready

Welcome to our store

June 2, 2017

Hello Everybody,

I hope that today is a great day for you! We are relocating our business operations to a new facility in Conroe, Tx. As with any move there have been a few bumps along the way, however we are blessed and highly favoured so each issue has or is being worked out.

So for a few things that may affect our existing customers;

1) Warranty work - You can still send your rifles to the old address through June 30, 2017. After June 30, 2017 our new location will be up and running and you will send your rifles there. During this transition period, please use the instructions found on our website. gearedandready dot com, under Contact Us.

2) Transfers – We will no longer do firearm transfers. Please ensure you pick a new FFL in your area to handle your transfers. We will attempt to remove our company from the transfer lists of major online retailers, however this takes time. If we receive a transfer it will be sent back to the shipper. I apologize for any inconvenience this causes, it is not a service we want to continue to provide.

3) Purchases
Rifles – Online purchasing of our rifles is on hold, Rifles will be available at your local Gun Show.

Parts and Accessories – Are available both online and at your local Gun Show.

4) Internet and Phones – At our current location our internet service is up and down, our phone system is IP based and runs through the internet. I am working with our internet provider to get this fixed and to get services turned on at our new location. I have been told that it will take 2 to 3 more business days to complete. Until then I have it set up to receive calls and emails on my mobile phone. Please be patient as I can't always get to the phone immediately while we are getting things settled in.

5) Why the move? -

I have been in the firearms industry; building, rebuilding and customizing rifles for 9 years, I have seen lots of changes. I have enjoyed firearms for as long as I can remember Me and my Dad shared firearms as a hobby my entire life.

I remember when Reagan signed the Firearms Protection Act in 1986 banning ownership of new full auto firearms, there was a rush to get them, and prices skyrocketed. Then there was the Brady Act in 1993 that imposed a 5 day waiting period, this nearly destroyed the Gun Shows, as most out-of-town dealers at a show could not get a handgun transferred to the buyer. That was a huge pain until 1998 when NICs was formed and we got instant checks. The result though was a rush on handguns. The rush on AR-15's and AK's during the Assault Weapons Ban in 1994 created another bubble in the firearms market, then again in the 2008, and 2012 elections, followed by the tragedy that took place at Sandy Hook in December 2012. Then every time during the last 4 years there was some sort of tragedy that involved firearms people would rush in to buy a firearm.

This trained manufacturers, wholesalers, dealers, and consumers to “get ready” for the next rush. This buying trend culminated in November 2016 when everyone including myself was so sure our next president would be the most anti-gun president we had ever seen. Therefore the entire industry tooled up, geared up, and prepared by making more firearms, parts, and accessories then they ever had. Well the election did not turn out as most expected, and our whole industry has been left with a surplus of inventory. Level heads prevailed the first 3 months of 2017, working to not flood the market and drive the price of firearms down, however that mood is changing.

The firearms industry is cyclic, Fall is a great time of year, hunting season starts, kids are back in school, and Christmas is not far off so people are in the buying mood, Winter and spring are generally good, the weather is nice for outdoor activities and people get year end bonuses and refund checks so they purchase something they always wanted like that custom firearm. Summer though, summer is the slowdown, retail purchasing slows, especially firearms, its hot, not much outdoor activities, kids are out of school, people go on vacation, and nothing is in season.

I have seen the writing on the wall that this summer and the next 12 to 24 months (unless there is some black swan event) there will be quite a slow down in our industry. People have purchased lots of firearms and ammo over the last decade, there is a huge surplus of inventory, and there seems to be an administration in place that is supportive of our industry. Consumer Debt is higher than every, so spending overall has slowed. So as a business person, I want to stay as viable as possible to ride out storm that looks to be looming over the horizon. Therefore we are reducing our overhead in ways that make sense to us, which includes a massive reduction in rent my moving to a smaller facility. Jesus has truly blessed us as we have not seen a reduction of sales this year, He has also provided us with wisdom to ensure our long term success. To be frugal with what He has given us and responsible with His gifts.

I have also noticed this excess inventory is not just limited to my industry. Across the board there are excess cars, houses, computers, electronics, even food. When supply out ways demand prices fall, which is generally a good thing for consumers right? Low prices, people purchase, and suppliers get rid of excess inventory and the economy balances. However right now consumers are strapped, wage increases are almost non existent, consumer credit is maxed, and due to low interest rates an artificial deceleration of inflation has occurred, except in food production where prices have skyrocketed even though production costs have fallen dramatically over the last 5 years due to low energy cost and automation (someone is getting paid! but who? not me and not you!). In the last 17 years the median income has only risen $1140.00 where as the median new home cost has skyrocketed an additional $146,523.00. So even though production costs are down, and inflation has been stayed (so we are told) the price of most goods has skyrocketed.

My sincerest hope is level heads prevail, that our leaders in industry, business, and banking make good decisions in helping middle America grow and prosper. So I hope for the best, and prepare for peoples knee jerk, panicky, irrational, emotional reactions. If you put your brother and sister first you will be taken care of, as they will remember and help you, if you shove them out of the way and slip off the cliff, you may not get that helping hand!

So please be patient with us, I encourage you to be diligent in your own lives, look forward to the future and be ready for whatever is coming!

Love one another, as He loved you! Love your enemies, pray for those who persecute you -GOD

I hope to see you this summer at our Gun Shows, I encourage you to get out and support our industry, and most of all – Trust in THE LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways submit to Jesus and He will make your paths straight! Proverbs 3:5-6

Thank you for your support!

Josh
